Prayers for this Time

This prayer is the prayer that was to be said at the start of each service at Holy Trinity and St James.

Almighty and All–loving God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
we pray to you through Christ the Healer
for those who suffer from the Coronavirus Covid–19
in England and across the world.
We pray too for all who reach out to those who mourn the loss
of each and every person who has died as a result of contracting the disease.
Give wisdom to policymakers,
skill to healthcare professionals and researchers,
comfort to everyone in distress
and a sense of calm to us all in these days of uncertainty and distress.
This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord
who showed compassion to the outcast,
acceptance to the rejected
and love to those to whom no love was shown.

Dear Lord Jesus, we bring before you
all doctors and nurses who are on the
‘front line’ of the fight against the
coronavirus. Please keep them
safe and give them the strength
to do their work.
We ask this in Jesu’s name.

Dear Lord, we ask you to give courage
and strength to all who work in the
emergency services. We pray for all
ambulance crews and paramedics.
We remember the police and fire crews.
Bless, O Lord, all who work
for the relief of poverty and
suffering among the poor of our world.

Dear Jesus, we rejoice in your love and
the love of our families. We remember
all lonely people, all who feel rejected,
all who cannot cope on their own. Jesus make
our community a loving and caring community.

A prayer from Christian Aid

Dear Lord raise up your Church
to be your well washed hands and faithful feet
to be present to the pain
to respond with love in action
if even from a safe distance.
Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer.
